Pampers vs Huggies – How to choose the best diaper

Being a parent is tough for too many reasons to count, especially when a child is still a toddler and requires constant care and attention. There are too many things to worry about, without diaper issues such as leaking becoming yet another issue to deal with. That’s why it’s important for parents to make good choices when purchasing diapers for their child, just as with anything else. There are many brands of diapers to choose from today, just as with practically any commercial product, but two of the biggest competitors in this market are Huggies and Pampers.

Parents choose between these two brands most often as they’re the most advertised and talked about diaper brands available today. However, both diaper brands have their alleged upsides and downsides, and you’ll have to evaluate both to come to a good decision on which diaper brand is right for your child. One of the biggest complaints against Pampers (although some Huggies buyers have complained of this same issue as well, to a lesser extent) is in regards to leaking. Leaking diapers are definitely something that you’ll want to avoid completely, as having to come into contact with your child’s excrements when changing their diaper is far from desirable for any parent.

Many parents also complain of the strong perfume-like odor that is common with Pampers and is used much less in Huggies diapers. Although a little bit of a pleasant smell can be nice and can mask the certainly unpleasant smell of a dirty diaper’s contents, overdoing it is not the way to go, even if you are attracted to the smell. On the other hand, Huggies users often complain of discomfort and rashes while Pampers users praise the softer texture of their diapers.

In terms of pricing, Pampers are also commonly more expensive than Huggies, although it of course all depends on how and where you shop. Newspapers, magazines, and the like are commonly filled with Pampers and Huggies diaper coupons for both brands of diapers, so cost shouldn’t be too much of an issue anyway unless you’re running on a tight budget. In the end, it is up to you as a parent and a consumer to evaluate the positives and negatives of each diaper brand (as well as the many other less popular brands, should you choose to be different in your choice) and make your decision based on which of them outweigh the others.
